32x? Wow, I'll save maybe a whole extra minute now.

Seriously, what's the point of getting the lastest and greatest burners? For $70, you can easily pick up a 12x burner. Unless you're running a pirate shop out of your basement, why would you pay $100 a few extra minutes? Diminishing returns..

$70 for a 12X burner? You can grab a 24X Lite-On for $75. I wonder how fast these things are going to get. Eventually, it'll take 3 seconds to burn a CD. Maybe not....

And I've been using my Sony 4x for 2 years now. And I have a new Sony 8x in the closet.

Why do I feel like the owner of the "Pony Express"?

Where the hell is the media for it?!!! I know a lot of 24X burners can use 16X media, but can 32X burners use 16X? I know 24X media is out but it isn't as widely available as 16X.

Can you spell "coaster"? I never had a coaster with my 12x Lite-on with Burnproof. I have had several with my 24x Lite-on. All were on 8x or 12x rated CD's incapable of burning at 24x(but are fine at 20x).

I wonder about the media for 32x. Also unless the lead-in and out is improved the savings in time will be minimal.

I am not touching the board. I am going to sell it and get a Soyo Dragon+. I am not very knowledgeable about AMD but I found that the 7DX is not even a new gen board. It's for the pre-XP processors and it just so happens that the XP's are compatible with them. I will not stand for a sub par board!

How long did shipping take superchink?

Maybe we can just 'press' our CDs in the future! That'd be great when we could spit cdr's out as fast as a laser printer....

Actually, I agree with keyed...and by the way, there's a huge difference between a 4x and a 2x. 4x cut your burning time from 35 minutes to 16-18. Going from a 24 to a 32 would save you about a minute (and that's if you're burning an entire cd).....

now i do agree that if you're still stuck with anything less than 8x when this baby comes out, then yes, you should probably upgrade...however, these people saying they're gonna update from a 24 need to seriously think twice on how much this could improve their performance.....
hey, just my $0.02

I am looking at this a dif way.... like someone said, once these 32x's hit, the 24x's are going to drop even further. Then I can buy a second TDK 24x for my second box or <evil grin> dual 24x drives in the same box. lol bwahahaha

Nero lets you write to two drives at the same time.

FYI: For anyone wanting to know, I have literally burned hundreds of PNY disks (the cheap stuff), all at 24x. I don't coaster, at all, even while playing a game like UT, RTCW, whatever... 3 of my buds have the same drive too. These drives are solid.
