D5000: DX format entry level cameras.
D400: DX flagship, 15MP+, 8fps.
D800: FX mid range. 24MP.

Also, there'll be an upgrade to imaging processor. If that gets rid of gray cast and WB problems, that'd really great!

Ummm...are you just copying/pasting stuff from Rockwell/Thom or did you dig up new info somewhere?

Seriously, this isn't exactly groundbreaking.

No, I get it from somewhere else. Anyone can say anything about upcoming cameras but there's this guy who has been 99.9% right. He isn't the fastest but when he says stuff, that's when I know for sure that those cameras are really coming soon.

Good question. I decided to do a quick comparison:

Resolution
D90: 12.3MP
D5000: ?

Autofocus
D90: 11 point w/ 3D Tracking
D5000: ?

Sensitivity:
D90: ISO 200-3200 (100-6400 with expansion)
D5000: ?

Continuous Shooting Speed
D90: 4.5FPS
D5000: ?

LCD Monitor
D90: 3" 920,000 Pixel
D5000: ?

Movie Mode
D90: 720p24
D5000: ?

It's a toss up ;)

Kidding aside, we can look to history for an example of what Nikon might do:

D5000
Either 10MP CCD or 12MP CMOS
No AF Motor (to keep differentiation between D5000 and D90/higher models)
ISO 200-1600 (3200 with expansion)
Live View
3" Low Res LCD (again, I think the 3" VGA LCDs will be for D90/higher models)
Dust Removal
EXSPEED w/ D-Lighting, CA Removal
2-3FPS
Movie Mode...depends on if they think Canon will put video in their Rebels

Why wouldn't you go get the D90...vs some camera that MAY NOT EVEN EXIST.... lol

I just don't know.. I have no "inside infoz" or anything like that but...I'm really skeptical. Not saying your friend is a liar, but I am saying I don't really believe it either. If they were going to announce some awesome new SLRs i think they would have done it at PMA and stole the show. I wouldn't be surprised if they release new slr's this year, but if they do I bet it'll be end of summer/fall, not "really soon".

I'm waiting because every Nikon fan site the I've visited seems to think the D5000 is coming out soon. I figured I'd post the question, because some of you might have heard more on the D5000.
