Right now u can print your own functional AR-15 mags!
Wonder how soon b4 we can print our own Ar-15?

You can do even better with a CNC mill.

3D printers are cool, but until they start printing metal, they won't be the best option for firearms.

I fail to see the issue here. It looks like a regular magazine. It's no more or less detectable than a regular magazine. It must still have a feeder spring and follower installed just the same way as a regular magazine. Are polymer magazines illegal because they look slightly different than USGI mags? AR-15's in particular are picky about magazine feeding, the tolerances are tight enough to not allow some strange, convoluted feeding mechanism that would be disguised as something else.

The Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988 already makes it illegal to manufacture, import, sell, ship, deliver, possess, transfer or receive any firearm that is not as detectable by walk-through metal detectors or has major components that do not generate an accurate image when subjected to inspection by airport x-ray machines.

I fail to see how this would be the case with a 3d printed mag.

There are already printed AR lowers out there. They aren't perfect and suspect durability but they function.
