I can't think of many guitar solos that have more emotion. And the tone is perfect. It's been 20 years since I first heard the song and that solo still gives me chills.

I wish I could get that kind of tone out of my gear.

You can get the same sound with a tube driver and a sustain pedal pushed through an overdriven amp.

BTW- The solo at the end of "Young Lust" does it for me. One of my favorites.

That's funny. One of my favorite guitar solos is the one in the middle of Pink Floyd's "Time" (heeeeeeeeavy echo blues guitar. :))

Just face it.. Gilmour is awesome. Did you know he actually taught Barrett and Waters to play before Pink Floyd was even formed?

Gilmour is definitely one of my favorites, along with Richard Thompson, Sharon Isbin (classical), Chris Whitley, and James Mankey.

What makes Dave's work so brilliant is the emotion he is able to bring out in his music. Very few artists can make the guitar sing like he can.

Unfortunately, his guitar skills never translated over into the lyrics department. Waters is truly brilliant as a songwriter.

Is it any wonder why Pink Floyd is so great?
