This IS it. For real. Ebgames also has the same date and it took out the message "the release date has not been supplied by id....".

Eh, it could happen, but they push games back and back and back, just updating that.

A gamestop release date means nothing, EB games had halo2 release date from october, to november, to december last year. Then April, June, October, and now the final date of November 9th for this year. Final date was announced by Bungie.

Even then, offical press releases by developers/publishers don't mean much, remember HL2? 😛

A august 2004 release date could happen, but I wouldn't consider this as 100% proof.

I definitely think this time is for real. They never used the language "official launch data aug 3 confirmed!" before. BTW, Doom 3 is not HL2. What happened to HL2 does not apply here.

"As of this time, representatives of id Software or Activision (DOOM 3's publisher) were unavailable for comment on the August 3 ship date, but we'll be following this story and will have the official word as soon as its available. "

Not quite confirmed, just a strong possibility.

I think it's probably real because id hasn't specified any dates before to my knowledge. They just said it'll be ready when it's ready, and I guess it is now.

Go to gamestop front page. It clearly says "Release date just announced. Coming 08-03-04". I got $20 says gamestop isnt making up this date themselves. You guys have been hit hard by HL2...
