Comey is out. Who do you think will be his replacement?

Clarke or Kelly. Leaning Ray Kelly but Trump might just appoint David Clarke for the luls.

Whoever it is has to be above reproach at this point. Christie and Giuliani simply don't pass the smell test. Kelly, at least, can be argued as wholly competent for the job.

My bet is on a sycophant, but one thing to note is that this position requires senate confirmation. I guess we will see just how different republicans are today than they were with Nixon.

Republicans were far better back then I'm afraid. The DOJ leadership clearly conspired with Trump and that being the case I do NOT want them appointing a farcical "independent" counsel. That leave Congress but that won't likely happen until investigations are concluded, if ever.

So what to do... Perhaps subpoena Comey under oath now that he is a citizen which would relieve him of some of the burdens in testifying to specifics. Maybe it's time to return to the days of VN protests, but we are a detached people these days.

Alberto Gonzalez reared his ugly head for an interview on NPR this morning. Gonzalez has a proven track record as a lap dog to a President.

It'll be Rudy. He was in Trump hotel DC last night, and is meeting with Trump today.

Rudy will restore public trust and confidence in the vital law enforcement mission of the FBI.

Did Trump make Rudy pee on the mattress?

How'd that work out for Mitt meeting with Trump? Trump also seems to like to shame people publicly as they beg him for a job and Giuliani has been notably absent since the travel ban and his comments.

Trump and Mitt have never been friends. Mitt openly mocked him constantly. Rudy has Trump brand knee pads.

Yeah but Giuliani went out telling everyone Trump wanted a Muslim ban and he's been repeatedly rejected. His pads might be in the closet as he hasn't been seen since then. If it were him I'd be shocked.

I hope whoever it is that they are a serious, grade A, Trump stooge. Praying every night to Cthulu for a Trump dictatorship. The sooner the better.

Whoever it is, that person will be scrutinized right down to the hair follicles between their butt cheeks and privates by the Dems. Thinking that Trump is really really going to want a person who is willing to sacrifice their self respect, their integrity and their reputations in order for him to somehow avoid being impeached, the interviews will probably be conducted by the casting crew from Naked and Afraid.

I was thinking that pinhead Gowdy originally, but this admin is really big on ass lickers with room temperature IQs and zero ethics, so... Jason Chaffetz? Giuliani definitely has a shot I'd say.

Nobody. He'll state that they're looking for 'the best candidate' for an extended period of time (>6 months) during which FBI investigations will be put on hold (either through attrition or mandated), while independent investigations will be squashed as they arise.
