Had the brightest, clearest, most widespread, and by far and away the most impressive tail of any comet i've ever seen

Nope only visible in the southern hemisphere.

It was for a while, but didn't really become visible to the naked eye until a couple days before it sunk below the horizon on its way around the sun.

Part of the tail is still visible in really dark areas ...

For the few days it was just above the horizon near dawn and dusk, I went out every time... and every time, there were clouds on the horizon

I think it's still visible for a few more days. It gets dark in about 1.5 hours and the skies are very clear at the moment so I'll go for another look tonight.

We could actually. Sadly, the last couple of days it was visible, it was cloudy. If you were in a clear area, it could be seen near the setting Sun.

Up here (North America), it was close to sunrise and about -2 last time we tried to see it. Nothing special. It waited until it got down under to go postal. One of my office mates was talking about flying to Chile or Peru to see it, but weather stunk mid-week.

We could actually. Sadly, the last couple of days it was visible, it was cloudy. If you were in a clear area, it could be seen near the setting Sun.

In Alaska? Really? I thought it was below our horizon. Now I'm really bummed.

It was just very close to the horizon when it could be seen. Of course, our best and final days had to be cloudy. I think they had a viewing chart on the front page of the News-Minus for locating it.
