Personally I don't trust Alton(PCChips) MBs. but your mileage might very. some people swear that they have absolutely no problem with the company.. (I've got bad experience.. )

You know that AC'97 audio means it's the stuff on the MB right?

I take that it's a packaged deal from some system maker? Do you have the specific detail on the parts? If I were you, I'd get slightly better quality parts instead of jumping on the Ghz wagon

drop alton/pcchips like a rock.
make sure the ps is a good one, whether it be 250 or 300

drop the tnt2, get a geforce 2mx or similar, unless this system is gunna be a server or somethin.

Yes, forget Alton (PCChips). Too many problems. Besides, you can get quality mobos really cheap now. If money is the issue, I also agree that you should get a Tbird 850 and a better video card.

Get an Asus A7V133, it runs rock stable and the driversupport and bios updates are great!
Also agree in the graphiccard is too old, get a card like Asus V7100 Geforce 2 Mx!

Definitely ditch the video card. At least get a Geforce2 MX or a 32MB Radeon. Also, don't just go with any 52x CD-ROM. Asus and TEAC both make good CD-ROM drives. If that is a package deal I would bet my bottom dollar that the 52x CD-ROM they're selling you is the Creative Labs one which you should avoid at all costs. Just go with a slightly slower T-bird; maybe a 800MHz or 900MHz and overclock it. Then take the extra money and get yourself a nicer video card and sound card.

Edit:
Oh yeah, don't get that motherboard. Get an Asus, Abit, or MSI.

Definitely go with a better name motherboard. It'll make a tremendous difference in terms of performance and especially stability. Personally, I've had bad experiences with Alton in those two departments.
