Come see my CHEAP alternative to BLUE LED's!

I went to radioshack and saw blue led's are 3.00 each..........ripoff!
so i went browsing around until i found a box labeled Christmas stuff.
I poped it open and saw the 50 light christmas tree light set i bought the day after christmas last year for 99cents. So i pulled a blue bulb out and connected it to a molex connector so it would get 5 volts. Then i poped it in my case, put a chunck of hot glue on it and it stuck. and now i have blue lights in my case for about 2cents each. the power of the chrismas light isnt as bright as like those phaser blue lights, but its decent for about 2cents. i enjoy it and i am proud of my "Invention".

not much of a pic, looks like a regular case with blue led's but their not!
pretty simple, anyways myne is pretty messy looking inside with all the hotglue i lumped onto there

Yes but also consider power consumption of a bulb versus the power consumption of an LED.

Big difference.

Life time is also worth considering - those little fairy lights often have expected lifetimes of between 10-100 hours.

LEDs, have life times of about 50,000-500,000 hours.

You pays your money and you take your choice.

heh, one time being bored on a flight, I calculated the life of an LED for some random item in a catalog. It came out to like over 7 years of a continuous run.

heh, yeah, blue LEDs will make a nice little nite lite... but try three Makes it hard to sleep... heh.. lucky for me, my case is fairly cool w/o the 120mm fan blowing.. so i can turn it off overnight
