Come one, come all!!!

Opty170 (2.0Ghz, 1mb)
Opty165 (1.8Ghz, 1mb)
X23800+ (2.0Ghz, 512kb)
X24200+ (2.2Ghz, 512kb)

Should i go for the extra L2 cache and get one of the Opterons, or will it have little to no effect on system performance (mainly gaming)?
Which one is the best to overclock on (in terms of getting the highest overclock)?

Lots of people here like the 165... I didn't want to OC 800Mhz to get my preformance, and I have the money, so I chose the 4400+ myself.

170 - 2x1M = 2MB
165 - 2x1M = 2MB
3800 - 2x512 = 1MB
4200 - 2x512 = 2MB
4400 - 2x1MB = 2MB

Newegg Comparison

Well money i dont have........but OC'ing is what i do plan to do.
The only problem i have with the 165 is that its 1.8Ghz. But it does save me $100 bucks over the 170.

And sorry, i forgot to edit the cache on the X2's when i posted them. I know thier 512kb and the Opty's are 1mb

It's 200Mhz for $75 on NE.... I would go with the 165 in your situation.

Would it be worth sacrificing the extra cache of the Opteron and going with the 3800+?
Or does the cache make more of a difference then the 200Mhz?

I have an Opteron 165, which easily ran at 300x9 = 2.7ghz (Stock volts, XP120)

I feel like a 50% overclock is pretty amazing.

I went with the X2 3800. I am running it at 2400 with no voltage increase. I am sure I can get it higher but I dont need to (yet). Great chip IMO.

I would say cache over 200Mhz. Mainly because you can change your clock speed, but you can't change your cache size.

You know, you could just edit an old thread and bump it.
