Hehe....the running joke is that everyone down here must live on french toast during storms since they always clean out the bread/milk/eggs.

I have monday off for MLK, so no work tomorrow would RULE!
Ditto that.....I love being a federal employee. :D

I had 4 weeks of break for it to snow so I could go sledding back at home. Chicago : December 13 -> January 13, 1 snowfall on Christmas Eve, melted.

Now I'm down here in stupid Indiana and it's been coming down pretty decently the last 2 /3 days. I HAVE NO SLEDS HERE GOD! YOU ARE 4 WEEKS LATE AND 200 MILES TOO SOUTH!

You can do what we used to do for fun. Get a car with a trunk. Tie a 20' rope to the trunk latch. ( the steel D ring that the latch hooks on to really ) and put a long bar or dowel in the other end of the rope. Wear shoes you do not need. Now hang on and stand while the car drives down the street in the snow.

Lots 'O fun!

Seriously, we used to do this. It was fun. But if you kill yourself, it is yoru own damn fault for not having good balance or a crappy driver. No suing me. I have no money anyway ;)

There were some guys doing this in my 'hood the last time it snowed except they were using a crappy plastic sled as a snowboard of sorts. It was pretty funny watching them bust ass repeatedly in my cul de sac. :D

But how well do you drive on ice?

Thats a big misconception about snow in the South. Its not that we all can't drive on snow, its that people try to drive on ice. Roads rarely accumulate inches of snow, it gets packed down into ice patches. I spent a winter in Minnesota and found that driving on snow is not that difficult.

You may get some wrap around snow tonight but it will not accumulate in the Atlanta Metro area. Right now temperatures are about 7-8 degrees too warm for snow, ice, or sleet. Now temperatures will be plenty cold tonight but there will be very little moisture except for some wrap around.

This system sped up very sneakily during the night because forecast plots had it entering in to Alabama and Georgia much later than it actually did. Now NW Georgia and NE Alabama are getting Ice/Snow right now but Atlanta doesn't have a chance until it sheds about 7-8 degrees. Since that will take several hours even with evaporative cooling and the moisture is drying up you all in ATL are sh!t out of luck.

Sorry I wanted snow here in Bham too. Too bad the storm sped up and hit during the day. Maybe sometime this year it will snow in ATL or BHM. :(

Don't think snow will keep you out of school! This school closes for nothing! :p

I just don't ever want to get snowed in at work.

I am debating whether or not to go to my 3:30 class or not. I am sicker than dog crap and the snow or threat of snow has nothing to do with it!

Ahh yes dear old Atlanta. The freakin news would break into the middle of an invasion on Iraq if it was going to even THREATEN to snow. I'm sure all of the schools here are already closed and battening down the hatches for a few flakes . Then you will see the local tv newsies run a crawl across the bottom of the tv showing you what is closed. They should just put the word EVERYTHING on the bottom and get it over with. It is quite comical.

People are probably calling in to work at 4:20 pm to let their work know tat they wont be there tomorrow BECAUSE OF SNOW!!!!!!!!!!

I get to have fun driving around a 20 ton truck in the slop tomorrow. But hey I lived in Florida for most of my life and I can drive in the crap a whole lot better than the rest of these dorks here!

I better go out and buy a few gallons of milk and a few dozen loaves of bread. Just in case. :>)

Hey Fausto1 i'm gonna be in your neck of the woods tomorrow. So if you see a Red Baron pizza truck sliding towards ya .Gimme a wave!

Peace

I can mail you all the snow on my lawn and back yard. It'd take couple of weeks though.

Ah, you're up in Geekender's neck of the woods. You'll have to join us the next time he hosts our LAN gathering. :)

I'm on 285 halfway between 85 and 20 on the east side of town, so nothing but cold, crappy rain here.

Snowing in Clemson. I think it's funny to watch people from the south when it snows. I've lived here for the last 2 1/2 years, but I lived 15 of my 20 years in Nebraska.

I'm hoping that it sticks to the ground or gets cold enough overnight to freeze the roads. I'd love to have a four-day weekend.

Stupid snow (or lack thereof)

Forecasts last night were for 4-6"...schools were closing this morning before the first flake fell and as of 7:30pm...there's MAYBE an inch.

I'm only here to brag. I work for a university...they let us out today at 1:30pm. (Free money for half a day....w00t!)

There's a good possibility that we'll be out tomorrow because it's "misting" still. There's about 2 inches of snow on the ground... I wish it were more, but the temp was too high when it started snowing so a lot of it melted off. PRAY that the top administration will save me from having to go to work tomorrow. Unscheduled Administrative closings KICK BUTT!!! :D

I think there's a chance of snow again on Thursday in Alabama. You might get some of it there. :)
