Come on in and take a survey for an essay for one of my classes!

I'm writing a paper (If you want I'll post what it's about when the survey is over) and I'd like for you to answer some questions. Please post your answers using the following letters:

A- Agree Strongly
B- Agree Somewhat
C- Don't care/NA/whatever
D- Disagree Somewhat
E- Disagree Strongly

So if you really liked chocolate and I posed "I like chocolate", you'd say A. Please, feel free to put more info there, or whatever, but at least post the letters.

Now, on to the survey!
-----

1) I would rather be somewhat happy all of the time than go through the whole range of human emotions.
2) I would rather have my responsibilities taken care of by some central, controlling body
3) I'd be unhappy if I had to give up my cellphone for a week.
4) "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." is wrong
5) The government can educate children better than their parents can.
6) The idea of individual property is dangerous or bad.
7) I have no problem with people having several sexual partners.
8) The idea of monogamy is outdated/unnatural
9) I would rather spend ten minutes having someone explain an idea to me than spend ten hours reading about the idea myself.
10) Everyone has a duty to the state before themselves.

Thanks!

9)A This isn't very realistic though. If someone could explain it in ten minutes it wouldn't take me ten hours to figure it out on my own.

9 would be like a brief run down of a 10-hour long book.

3) E Don't have a cell phone and don't plan to get one.
4) A
5) B Not many parents can teach calculus, science, english, foreign languages, any musical instrument, physical education, etc. Sure some parents can teach some of these areas quite well, but very few can do it all well. Of course, there are some things the government just cannot teach either. So education must be a cooperation of different parties.

1) I would rather be somewhat happy all of the time than go through the whole range of human emotions.

D. While I do like to be happy, I think it's very much a part of being human to experience the whole range.

2) I would rather have my responsibilities taken care of by some central, controlling body

E. Hell no.

3) I'd be unhappy if I had to give up my cellphone for a week.

E. I rely on my cellphone every day; it's my primary phone for home and business.

4) "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." is wrong

E. Ben Franklin knew what he was talking about there.

5) The government can educate children better than their parents.

C. It's not that I don't care, it's that I'm exactly in the middle here. It depends on the subject matter, the parents, and the quality of the education.

6) The idea of individual property is dangerous or bad.

E. Communism doesn't work, mmmkay?

7) I have no problem with people having several sexual partners.

E. I have no problem at all with that.

8) The idea of monogamy is outdated/unnatural

D. I disagree. Monogamy is right for many if not most people. However, not for everyone, and nor should it be enforced.

9) I would rather spend ten minutes having someone explain an idea to me than spend ten hours reading about the idea myself.

D. That 10 minutes will help me decide if I wish to explore and understand that idea better.

10) Everyone has a duty to the state before themselves.

C. Not necessarily "the state" per se, but as an aspect of Culture, humans form groups and live within them. To be a member of a group, you have to abide by the customs of that group to some extent.

Thanks!

5) The government can educate children better than their parents.

should be worded as follows:

5) The government can educate children better than can their parents.
or
5) The government can educate children better than their parents can.

or something to that effect. The original statement says "the government can educate children better than the government can educate their parents" which isn't what you mean to ask.
