Seems like every little "bug" in a car/truck nowadays is a recall.

I don't mind recall but it is the little things that bug me.

brake pad wtf? we have been using the same system the last.....50yrs? how can it go wrong?

Other things like starter, coil, power windows/lock..etc They're the same thing since forever. Also print and rust, some cars never rust and some rust like a mfer(mazda).

With so many electronics in cars now a day it is going to be fun in 5-10yrs.

Yes... because a key being able to be removed in 28,000 Scions is absolutely the same thing as the fucking brake pedal not working on 473,000 of GM's most popular vehicles.

They both could lead to death so not sure what your point is. Or are you one of those people that don't care if it's just a small amount of deaths?

I don't understand how being able to take the key out of the ignition with it running can kill someone. I do however see quite easily how having a non-functioning brake pedal could kill you and anyone in your path.

And yes, I do consider 1,000 deaths to be a lot worse than 1 death... probably about 1,000 times worse. Don't you?

Must be referring to the steering wheel locking if you remove the key while driving?

My steering wheel doesn't lock, though.

how can the car stay running if the steering lock is engaged?

you'd have to turn the car off for that to happen.

are people purposely turning off their cars while driving in gear?

Well, you could still just be rolling at high speed with a locked wheel, I guess.

Most drivers would handle that okay, but you know a few would not.

Just as some drivers can't handle the GM key problem where the engine shut off when the key was turned from the weight of a bunch of keys.

Most drivers would not have an accident if the engine shut off suddenly on the highway, but a few would.

Exactly why I'm afraid to spend money on a new car. Too many of them roll off the lines with tons of issues. They should make a law that states for every recall, not only does the manufacturer have to fix the issue, they should have to pay you $500 cash too for your trouble.

No need for GM to get it right - the government will backstop them. After all ... they're too big to fail. Everyone knows this.

Recalls are a good thing....relax.

Would you rather have automakers hide these defects and just let them be?
