Seen on a recent episode of Classic Startrek:

<Captain's Log: Stardate 128.43.52> We have encountered another vessel out in the far depths of space. Is it dangerous, disabled, or merely distant?

<Sulu> Captain, I have spotted another vessel on the Short Range Scanners!!!

<Kirk> Put it on the screen, Lt. Sulu

<Sulu> Aye, Aye, Captain

<Kirk> Spock, what is it?

<Spock> It is a long, cylindrical object. Composition is 85% iron, 10% silicate, 5% trace minerals. Mass 200ktons. Velocity 1/2 lightspeed

<Kirk> But why is it that strange reddish color

<Spock> The coloring appears to be the patina caused by oxidization of the primary element. Also, the shape of the vessel is vaguely reminiscent of an old style fastening device.

<Kirk> Can you translate that into layman's terms, Mr Spock?

<Spock> I believe that what we see in front of us could be called a "Rusty Nail". It also appears that the vessel is either disabled or highly impaired, as it appears to be producing at full capacity, and yet is going nowhere.

<Kirk on communicator> Scotty, can you confirm Spock's assessment? And if required, can we assist the disabled vessel?

<Scotty> Aye Captain, it's definitely a few loads of Dilithium short of a full barrel. And as to fixing it, well, that would require a real close look-see.

<Kirk> Lt. Uhura, please open a hailing channel to the disabled vessel

Beep, tweet, beep
<Uhura> Hailing channel opened, Sir

<Kirk> To the disabled vessel Rusty Nail. This is Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. We were passing this way on our way to the Folding Competition and noticed your disabled vessel. Do you require assistance to regain your full propulsional functionallity, or do you require a tractor-tow to the nearest starbase to further any repairs you may have started?
