Ok, I am starting a new thread on this as I was discussing something with other guru3d member and became off topic so I am starting a new topic here.

Ok, This discussion has to do with My CPU's TDP limit along with down throttling.

I was wondering why my cpu was down throttling its speed when all Cstates options along with intel speedtech and others were turned off and still the multiplier, speed, going down during cpu stress test such as prime95 x64 and even Aida extreme 560.

After some replies on another site that I was going over the tdp limit and was throttling down naturally as this was perfectly normal.

Now here comes the wtf part...

Ok, after messing with a program called throttlestop, I was getting some red artifacts, I thought I did something with my cpu, so I restarted my system, still same red dots, then I downgraded my firmware to the last revision to see if the red dots would go away and it did not, then I checked on google on something on my phone, it has to do with my video cable being loose as I always have it unscrewed because there is something wrong with my video card's dvi-d port, everytime I log into windows, the screen goes black, have to unplug the power to the lcd, then reconnect the power cord then reconnect my video card cable, I have to do this every single time with my gtx 970 TWINS, my old gtx 690, doesn't have this problem or my old lcd monitor, could be my dvi-d ports are shot.

But sorry of getting a lil off topic here, I upgraded back to the latest bios, re-install win 10 with the latest build, checked throttlestop along with coretemp, etc, did some stress test and WTF??? My Vid shows the correct amount but the W shows way below then it should and also, soon as I ran prime95, read this well, It does NOT throttle down like it used to.

I included a photo, take a look:

Could you rephrase the question? I didn't follow at all.

The cpu does not down throttle like it used to and while using throttlestop program, it does not show the correct W(Wattage) of the cpu thats putting out.

This is right after re-upgraded the firmware bios for the motherboard and a clean install of win 10(Latest Build).

The question is, what is it causing this exactly? Even though I don't want to down throttle.

Do you know why is it showing such a low W instead of the correct amount?

registry values? which did not get erased when you uninstalled the program?

This is a clean install of win 10, Reconfigured my RAID,etc.

This is soon as I got into the clean install of win 10.

Even if I don't use throttlestop program and run the latest prime95 X64 w/AVX, it does not throttle down, checking with coretemp, I guess its a good thing it doesn't, as this is what I originally wanted anyways.

UPDATE:

I shut down my system and did a restart and started up Throttlestop and checked to see if everything remained the same and yes it still does not down throttle, :)

So you're amazed that a program called "Throttle Stop" has stopped your throttling? OK! Congrats on your discovery!
This review has been posted for 5+ yrs.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/the-throttlestop-guide.531329/

"ThrottleStop is an Intel Core 2 and Core i performance monitoring and modification tool. Some manufacturers throttle CPU performance to protect their motherboards or the power adapter from being damaged so keep that in mind before making any changes. Using ThrottleStop to overclock or over volt your CPU or to disable a laptop manufacturer's throttling scheme may damage your computer and is at your own risk."

I never knew about this program and no, I don't even need to use the program to bypass the TDP limit, I was just using the program to monitor the W(watts) when I stress test the cpu, Even If I don't use the program, my cpu does not throttle down, even with prime95...

Even if I take eist, etc off on throttlestop, it still shows a low W reading.

well this is the highest clock frequency I can get on the 12 core, so I guess its just a mild oc, nothing major, all good.

Thanks for the reply and like I said, never knew about the program to begin with, I was looking up some stuff on google on how to stop the throttling process of the cpu and I found about this program.

In your photo, the TS TURN ON button still says TURN ON, so it seems like you don't have TS turned on?

It don't matter if I have it on or off.

Well a new win 10 x64 build is out, going to give that a try, lol, I like your motto on the bottom of your replies, lol.

My first gaming cpu was an amd back in the athlon days, kicks the smack out of intel p4, even a 3.6 p4 couldn't even stand a chance against a 2.4 athlon x64.

Dad still has the thuban 6 core cpu, very outdated cpu but still performs well, gave my sister the xeon w3550 @ 4ghz+/x59 build which is a fairly decent build, not for today's standard however.

I like them both, Intel is in a totally different ballpark then it used to be back in the netburst days.

And omg, Pentium D's, Boy do they ran HOT!
