Ummm...Verizon charges the same thing. Oh, you have the free multi room dvr for one year....but it still cost $27 a month after the year...and it is only a free MULTI ROOM DVR. The single DVR ($22 a month) does not count in that promotion.

I got rid of the DVR and I use a standard box in the main room ($6 a month) and a digital adapter in the bedroom ($4 a month).

Where are you getting these prices? The DVR is only $14.99/month and the Multi-Room DVR is only $19.99/month.

In the natick, Ma area. Those are the prices they had at the Kiosk when I sgned up. There are like 5 different options for a box. I just picked the cheapest one that can give me on demand and the cheapest one in the living room.

BW, for all you verizon to be folk...Do NOT go to the Kiosk to join FIOS. You will get a much better deal doing it online (free box....free 100 giftcard, free HBO for 30days). i did not qualify for any of the promotion crap because I did it as a kiosk.

You guys are getting the shaft in your area.

I know....:(

You still live at home? Get rid of the DVR boxes. Sounds like you're all stupid.

he is probably adding in the taxes and doing it incorrectly.

That $6 box though ends up being alot more as it's taxed the same way as the 'broadcasting' which I think is absurd....same with phone features being taxed that way.

A $30 phone bill or cable is really more like $50 once fees/taxes hit.

My cable/internet bases at $140 but ends up being $190 a month.

No it is $6 for the box plus $8 to upgrade the boxes to digital.

The bill reads

Digital Equipment $6
Digital Equipment $6
Digital Equipment $6
Digital Equipment $6
HDTV equipment upgrade $8
HDTV and DVR equipment upgrade $14
HDTV and DVR equipment upgrade $14
HDTV and DVR equipment upgrade $14

the HDTV equipment upgrade is for each HD box.

We get the regular SD box with our digital package.

That is every month or a one-time upgrade fee?

It should be like $6 for each additional HD box and $14 for the DVR service though. So $20 per TV for having the ability to see HD and record.

With no DVR you should be only paying $6.

Each month.
I just checked my area on Comcast.com. It shows this $8 as a monthly fee for each box in my area, it is in addition to the $6 fee it shows.

Comcrap charges us $20 a month for the HD DVR box, and worst of all we have 3 of them.

So apparently a regular SD converter box is $6 a month, and HD box is $14 a month, and a DVR box is $20 a month.

Since we have 3 DVR and 1 HD box and 1 SD box we pay $80 in just rentals for 5 converter boxes. That is highway robbery. Wish we could get rid of comcrap but we can't.

That's why I went to DirecTV and paid for my boxes up front...

DirecTV charges $5 for DVR service (total for any number of DVRs) and $5 for each receiver beyond one. My two HD DVRs cost just $10/month. I'd have to have 16 receivers in order to pay $80/month.
