Comcrap- Screen resolution

Hey, does anyone know a trick to keep my gf's compaq from reverting back to 640x480? It does it every few days, its a real pain. I set it to 800x600, reboot a few times to make sure it sticks but within 5-10 reboots it switches back???? I have gone through MSconfig and turned off everything that i thought would effect it, any ideas?

hmmm,, may-b a video card problem...

update the computer through "windows update"...

plenty of patches there...

hehe, i was going to update the vid card drivers but shes on a dreadfully slow 56k modem. I guess i could try burning them onto a CD.

Like maybe you could tell us the version of Windows you're using or something...

If anything older than Windows SE, then install Windows SE or ME.
If Windows NT, then install Windows 2000.
If MacOs, then take this baseball bat.

heh, comcrap.

try athome.compaq.com or home.compaq.com and look for monitor drivers.
my guess is your monitor driver is generic 'plug and play'.
