I went to pay my Comcast bill today, and took a good look at it for the first time in a while. Under "Additional High-Speed Internet Services", if there is a line that says "HSD Speed Bump", and a charge for $10.00. I had no idea what that was, so I went to comcast.com, and comcast.net, did a search for "HSD Speed Bump", and came up with nothing. Did a search for just HSD, on comcast.com I got zero results, on comcast.net I got over 9 million results, tried to narrow it down, failed. I thought that this was kind of strange that I couldn't find anything on their sites, so next I tried calling. The first person I got ahold of (in Billing), had no idea what I was talking about, she put me on hold for a good 5 minutes to (I'm guessing) ask her supervisor, or look up the info somehow. When she came back, she put me through to another department, who then put me through to a third department after hearing my questions. The third department operator told me that the HSD Speed Bump was something that I would have had to call and sign up for (I did not), and it would boost my internet speed from 6MBPS to 16MBPS. I had done a few speed tests while I was on hold, and came up with the following:
http://www.speedtest.net/ - 24.95MB/S Download, 3.52MB/S Upload.
http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/ - Anywhere from 1800 Kbps to 2400 Kbps.
I got the third operator to cancel the speed bump, reset my router, rebooted my computer, did the speed tests again, and have been coming up with similar results to what I got before cancelling the Speed Bump for the past 3 hours. Did a search, and found a couple of forums where people had complained about the same thing (some were charged $10 per month, some $20 per month), but there wasn't a whole lot out there. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their Comcast bill. The bill is in section, for TV, phone if you have it, and Internet, look under the Internet section for "HSD Speed Bump".
