How do you check?

Edit

To make it clear, I never gotten the advertised speed. I understand cable bandwidth is shared between the neighborhood, so how might one go about finding the new speed?

When you reach the 10/1 speeds I get with OOL let me know. We are supposed to get 20/2 starting in October.

I really can't see why you'd need 2.5 MB/sec.

Well I am a heavy usenet downloader (all legal stuff, *cough*) so the jump from 1200k/s to 2000k/s with usenetserver would be a nice change. :p

But wouldn't OOL know that people doing that are the only ones who would benefit? And shouldn't they technically not want to facilitate that?

I don't understand why but I get 1.3mb on Comcast when I do a speedtest. It really pisses me off and I don't know what the problem is! When I click on the connection, it says it is connected at 10mbps under network connections, is that okay? I use my modem via USB because my ethernet ports are broken. When I used to connect via ethernet it would say 100mbps I think. Could this be my problem?

Hmm... I must still be at 4Mb, I get ~520KB/s max. FIOS should be here soon and then at least I'll have better uploads.

Well FIOS is creeping into some OOL territories and people hear 15/2 and instantly want it. It's all a numbers game, and OOL is ready to play.

Competition is good.

I already get 10mbit download speeds and that is sufficient. I also have 1 mbit up, but man 2mbit uploads would really be nice.
