LOL. I just saw a study that says significantly more men surf the internet than women. (What it didn't say is most only surf with one hand!)

Still not at 3Mb in Chicago suburbs even though we were supposed to be upgraded Dec 15.
Still no upgrade after resetting my modem on 1/18

We're not upgraded @ my place in Seattle yet, either. I called Comcast on it and they said "1st half of the year." Gee thanks.

I got a thing in the mail from Comcast announcing their new prices/products for the New Year today and inside it said it was raising the download from 1.5MB to 3MB. I also called a few weeks ago and they did confirm that they were, just not the exact date. I get 1.9 - 2 megabits per second usually, so this will be sweet! I like in Salt Lake City, UT btw...

I just got the email from Comcast two weeks ago, but the increase kicked in about a month ago here in Flower Mound, Tx (just north of Dallas)...

for those that are expecting the increase, but haven't got it, did you reboot your modem? need to do this before the increase can take effect...

I just got my increase here in Minneapolis, MN the other night. It's pretty nice so far. Now, if I could just figure out the right frickin' SNMP community string for my linksys cable modem then I could MRTG monitor it...

HA! I just did a speed test here in North Portland and I got a whopping 455 kbps! *yes, that is DL* :Q

I'll assume that the test server was busy or something... I'll test agian in a bit.

When you say reboot, do you mean like turn it off and back on, or go through the modem reset thing on their website?

basically a power cycle. unplug it. wait 30 secs. plug power back in.

before turning off modem: 1733 Kbps
after checking for update: 1656 Kbps

oh joy! thanks comcast! (holds up coke to camera with cheesy grin and winks)

Heh, yeah i got this too, but dont dare use it too much or you'll get one of these, as i did: http://www.msdossys.com/comcrap.gif

this person most likely uncapped their modem.

No, not at all. Reading around on DSLreports shows that if you go over 100 gigs a month, you'll most likely get one.

FYI, at full throttle (and 3mbps), you can pull down about 900 gigs a month...

Well, yesterday 1-20-04 was supposed to be "our day" in Portland, OR. Has anyone seen a speed upgrade here yet?

Ehh... posted above, I've seen it for around a month now. BoadbandReports has shown me at around 3200 everytime I test.
By the way, I'm in NE Portland.

Think again. BIG TIME. This has been going on for the last 6-7 months. Comcast has been sending out these notices to people who they deam are using too much of the service. There is a huge topic at DSLReports, http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,7970996~mode=flat?hilite=comcast+limit, which has been documenting this action. Basically Comcast is saying that you are using more then your limit, and they won't tell you what the limit is, how much over the limit you are, or how much you even used. These letters also seem to be sent only to areas in which there is no alternative broadband company (i.e. no competing cable modem service, or DSL availability), so the people getting the letters are at the mercy of Comcast and Comcast knows it, so they want to squeaze every last cent that they can out of their more active users.

I am in Vancouver, WA (which I believe will be on POrtlands upgrade schedule, not Seattles) and I tried last night and am still at about 1.7MB.
