Don't know if anyone knows this, but if you power off your comcast dvr and hit menu button on remote, a hidden settings page comes up.

This page allows you to setup 16x9 screens.
As well as the resolution to output, and the aspect ratios.

SO my questions is if you knew about this, what settings did you use?
I tried playing around with it and got pretty good with 760p and 16x9.

But it still doesnt look as good as i would expect.

I've known about that menu since the day I got my HD DVR.

I have mine set to 1080i and 16x9. The HD channels are perfect for me. Very clear with excellent detail.

That is what I had mine set to. Recently switched to a TiVo HD, far better than Comcast's DVR. (although the Comcast DVR with TiVo software might be good, I have never used it since it is not available in my area)

One thing i had read in an upconverting dvd player is that progressive is a better resolution.
So i've opted for 720p, over 1080i, not to mention my tv is only 720p..

Calvin, since you've set your box to 1080i, does it still allow you to stretch 4x3 programming?

The question is: How are you hooking it up? With what kind of connection? That is probably the better question, you should see a difference when switching between the resolutions.

You should setup the cable box to display all resolutions supported by your TV including 480i & use pass-through so the cable-box doesn't do any up-converting.
