Comcast recognizing me as a new user

Just yesterday I opened up firefox and I am no defaulted to the "New User" page for new comcast users. This is wierd as, I have had no problems in the past 2 years with this service. As of right now, I can not connect to anything. All of the modem lights are active, but I can't log onto AIM, browse, etc. It won't even let me download the little program from the new user page it says to download to install the comcast software. I am not sure what this is all about, but as of right now, I can't access the internet. I did notice on my last bill, that they said they would be upgrading speeds. Has anyone else had this problem?

Assuming you have one pc connected directly to the cable modem, i.e. there is no router between the modem and the pc.

The most common reason for what you are experiencing is with the ISP not "provisioning" your modem's mac address correctly - a phone call to their tech support is called for to fix that. Why did it happen? Strange are ways of cable companies. Be prepared to wait.

The modem's mac address is usually on a sticker at the back/bottom of the unit.

I disconnected the router to see if that would help and nothing. Yeah, I will be calling them Monday to see what they say

Thanks for the help Slowleaner. I called their 1-800 number and they fixed it. Apparently if your bill isn't recieved (it was sent out before the due date) by the due date, the modem goes into a hibernate mode. They fixed it quickly. Thanks again
