Good lord. It's not Comcast who's capping your newsgroups, it's the actual provider, Giganews. And besides.... news groups weren't meant to be a place to download all your warez and porn. That's what Internet Explorer and alt.sex.goat.yousuck is for.

Seems to me... you just told us to go to a newsgroup for all the things we arent supposed to be relying on newsgroups for... 😉 And besides, Goggle doesn't give you binaries groups does it?

People are now using the newsgroups as a point to point service, meaning that before they would just trade txt msg's or a cpl of pics now it's entire CD's at a time and it's gotten to the point where they don't have a choice. newsgroups/bandwidth was not meant to be used like this.
I was at my sisters friends house and we both use Rogers cable and he basically downloads 5 Gigs every two to three days, I swear to god that his computer is downloading day and night, mostly movies. Most times he'll check and if he's missing just one part he will delete everything and start over. It's not unusual for him to download over 100 Gigs/month but he just doesn't get it and doesn't give a sh!t. I have a badwidth monitor and I never use more than 5Gig/month so basically were both paying the same but I have to suffer lags and slowdowns because people like him are sucking up all bandwidth.
The better cap would be 500 Megs/Day which would be about 15 Gigs/month but still cap off those who abuse it on a daily basis. I just don't blame them anymore on imposing limits.
