:Q

Check all your cable connections. Wire brush any jacks that look dull, brown or green.

I had HORRIBLE speed/ping/packet loss problems when I first got Cable. The cable jack was off in a dark corner of the room, so it was hard to see.

We had the cable people out several times, and they couldn't figure it out.

Then one day I took a lantern over into the corner, and noticed the cable jack was all green and corroded.

I wire brushed it, and my connection was then perfect. It kinda pissed me off. Although, we got 4 months free out of the whole thing. :p

I'm on Comcast here in California, and my ping's pretty bad too. The problem, I believe, is that there are several cable splitters in the house, at least one of which is up in the attic where I cannot get at it very easily. I get decent download speed and don't play online games that need a low ping, so I just live with it...

Hmm..

I have 2 cable splitters before my cable modem, and my pings are fine...

One of them is a higher quality grounded unit, but one is just a POS radioshack splitter.

..... That little tidbit of information would've been helpful in the first post.

If it is their service, there is nothing you can do except call it in.

I'm getting the worst packet-loss in months on Cox cable (Florida). I called Tech Support and had the pleasure of dealing with an ass who said "they're working on it"

I was having trouble accessing the mail server yesterday, but you can check your mail on comcast.net(web based).

It's working today though.
