I went into Circuit City today and found a good deal on Comcast, $19.99 a month for new subscribers, locked in for 6 months, a free after rebate cable modem (total of two $20 rebates and one $40 rebate) along with a mail in offer for a free $75 CC gift card. No contract either, so you can get out of it after the six months is over. All in all, you get 6 months of Comcast for $45. When I called earlier today, they gave me $29.95 a month, and promised me that was the best deal available. I called and cancelled from my cell phone at CC when I saw their offer. Hope somebody finds this useful!

I was able to get a similiar deal (6 months @ 19.99 in july 2004) and comcast has been very fast in my area however not 100% reliable. about once a month my cable will go off for an hr or so not horriffic but eh has been a slight annoyance.

Anyone in the DC area been able to extend their 6 months at $19 deal? Mines about to run out in January and I've been wondering if they'll offer us the $29 a month deal to keep us.

After 6 months, just call and complain to them that you will cancel because dsl etc is cheaper as an alternative. Most likely they'll extend it another 6 months or adjust it to whatever your competitor is.

I did this same rebate that ended 9-30-04. Same deal as the one linked by dabuddah, but a different promotion number. I still haven't received my rebate or even seen it entered in the staplesrebates.com site.

I called the toll free number and the automated voice said they were sending me some form within the next 15 days for me to fill out, send back and then I can get my rebate.

I was under the inpression that all the rebate forms I filled out and sent in would be enough. Anyone else have to do this for the $130.00 Staples/Comcast promotion?

You definitely need to keep on top of things with the staples rebate. They never informed me but after I checked online, it told me my rebate was denied. After emailing them, they told me I need to fax in a copy of my first months bill even though I had mailed it along with the form. So of course, I sent a 10 page fax including everything from my original rebate submission (including a copy of the envelope I mailed it in :D )
3 weeks later, I got my check :)

my preivous $19.99 for 6 month is about to expire too in jan; tried to talk to 2 CSR to extend my promotion period (which used to work) but both replies me back with a 3-month waiting policy for existing customers to jump on another deal...damn...

I have been with Comcast for 5 years. I called them up on Christmas Day and asked if they could make me an offer to stay since I was looking into getting DSL. They said they could offer me $19.99 for 3 months but that was the only offer they had. Damn it, wish I knew about the 6 month one and I would have pushed for it. Atl east I got 3 months for $19.99 instead of $42.

some people get it for a year, it depends how you talk to them. if you keep this up, you can have it for 19.95 indefinitely. SBC is 26.95 and 19.95 if you have unlimited long distance plan.

btw, I use to be with Bellsouth and called to cancel but was then given 3 months free. Wow, so for the next three months I get charged nothing. It was for new customer promotion only so I guess they were just being nice. ;)

comcast don't check customer by their SSN anymore. I live in an Apt. and I've moved quiet a few times for the past 2 years. I'm still on the plan 45 bucks right now for tv+internet. Just cancel, and call in and sign up under another name or let your wife, sister sign up lol. and tell them you just moved in..wassup?

My friend has Comcast Internet. He has the deal for $20 or $30 for the first 3 or 6 months. Then after the 3 or 6 months runs out he cancels it. Gets DSL and then a month later he gets Comcast again or when his contract with DSL runs out. You have to wait one month before you can accept a promotion form Comcast if you were using one before. I think it is $20/month if you have Cable TV through Comcast or it is $29.99 if you do not have Cable TV through ComCast.

well, the staples rebate before gave me free service for 7 months. i have heard of some trying to get more than 1 of the rebates and getting a few hundred back. YMMV. get the one that you get the best return on. My staples one came licketty-split.

Is there any reason you can't call again after the 3 months is up and say, "I'm splitting for DSL unless you give me a deal" again?
