I may switch from Dish to Comcast when we move.
The CSR told me that they only have HD DVRs with component out and no HDMI. I have to get on a waiting list to get a unit with HDMI.
My TV only does 1080i but I still want to use HDMI.
Anyone else run into this?

I've heard this is pretty common in a lot of places. I had no issues getting one with an HDMI output. I think the component connection actually looks better.

it is possible the component outputs may be intentionally "down-rezzed" in order to comply with tv and movie studios' wishes. this isn't yet common, but is happening more.

They have HD DVR's with hdmi out. They will charge you extra for the "privilege" and also charge you an install fee even if you hook it up yourself. At least that's what they did to me before I switched to directv

My HD receiver outputs 1080i on the component connections. I didn't have to pay anything extra for the HDMI version, I just went down to the office and asked for one. No additional charges for installation either.

They do charge for installation. When I told them I would do it myself, they said they had to install it and charge for it. It's about $15 per TV.
