the other day I was at work and a door to door Comcast saleman calls me (my neighbor gave him my #) and tells me he can give me everything they offer, alarm, 2 dvrs, 250mb internet....all that for the low low price of $120/m

Without going into to much detail, I explain to him that I just redid my bundle 2 months ago (I basically have all that he is offering except for the alarm and premium channels) and that I'm locked into that contract for 2 years...IE I'm probably not going to switch to dish..you've got me a as a customer. He persists for a couple days.

This seems like something is amiss...why would Comcast give me more/charge me less when I'm already locked in for 2 years? is this guy a shyster? I'd love to save another $40/m but im supspicious..need advice

Those guys are scams. The equipment will arrive and it is not what you were promised (low-end DVR, different channel selection, etc)

they work on commission to get the agreement at that spot, then no real concern or care what happens after.

Also, kindly ask your neighbor why they are giving your phone number to sales jerks.

comcast door to door salesman

I doubt they actually work for Comcast, they are just selling Comcast services on commission. This is why the sales person had no idea of your current Comcast status.

This, he's a contractor. His company gets a special offer from Comcast which they then use to upgrade or sell to new customers. I'd bet the new customers also get some kind of rebate.
I'm sure its a legit offer.

Meh...I've signed up for ComCrap a couple of times through these contractors. They ALWAYS got me a much better deal than I could by going directly through ComCrap...but once that deal expires...rates go through the roof. (and ComCrap is usually less likely to give you a better deal than if you were one of their "regular" customers.

You should never answer the door unless you expect it. The porch is where the devil hangs out and knocks to come in.

Quite literally too. Couple of mafia fools dressed up like cops and dude answered the door and wound up with a bullet in the head and face.

But maybe I'm reading my CIA secrets that can save your life book too much. LOL

I'm thinking about getting something like this: https://ring.com/

It says,

Over 1 million burglaries occur just in the United States each year during daytime hours, when homes are usually unoccupied. Being home is often enough to deter a potential burglar.
It should say:

"Over 1 million burglaries occur just in the United States each year from the front door during daytime hours, when homes are usually unoccupied. Being home is often enough to deter a potential burglar."

Being home is NOT a deterrent for a rapist.

LMAO! One of the videos on their site has a guy saying he's in Seattle. DON'T! do that.

I do NOT support home soliciting of any kind. Its bad for them, its annoying for me, and it encourages trespassing.

bad deal all around.

in my experience, door to door only happens when the company is desperate for sales in that region. there's a reason they're desperate. pass.

If you can get the deal, in writing, on their order form, go for it. Yes those door to door people are commissioned and they are hungry and armed with deals that they can't give you over the phone.

I was a Uverse customer, had a Uverse rep show up at my door, when he found out I was a customer he offered me an upgrade to the U450 package, fastest internet, phone, and a $300 gift card at a rate lower than I was paying. I told him to write it up, it was all legit, 2 months later my bill was lower and my card arrived in the mail.

The door to door guy in my area was really nice. He did have some pretty good deals so I decided to sign up since I wasn't super happy with Frontier and the Xfinity tech looked really nice. The biggest savings came in installation costs so if you are already a Comcast customer I don't know if he is really going to be able to do anything for you.

There were a few small things he didn't mention until you are about to sign on the dotted line, like the price he has is only for first year and it goes up a little for second year, but I was fine with all that because it was till cheaper than Frontier for more channels and faster internet.

After 2 weeks I started the process of switching back to Frontier and was able to do so in the 30 day trial period so no cost to me. Honestly it was not his fault, everything was exactly as he described and no tricks or anything like that. It just came down to HD content for me. I didn't pay attention to how few channels were actually HD. For example, you get all these pay channels, maybe close to 100, but only about 10 of them were in HD. WTF? I couldn't stand it. All the kid's channels too, standard definition. Ridiculous. The good news is I got an amazing deal for going back to Frontier and got to keep all the home security gear from Comcast, not that I am able to use it...

Conservative who probably pines for the good old days when everyone was friendly. Too bad all the baby-raping liberals have ruined the nation.

I'd only accept their contract if they are willing to go to Backpage and buy me an hour. If they are willing to pay for the solicitation of sex for this customer, then sure! Sign me up! LMAO

Officer, I did not hand this woman a donation. And besides It's a porno. You see the damn camera?

I got an internet only deal from a door to door guy... worked out really well. It was something like 25mbps for $20/mo or somewhere in that neighborhood (this was back in 2011 or 2012 so keep that in mind). Got me to switch from WOW.
