I seriously doubt whining on Anandtech is going to get it fixed for you.
 
That metal connector on the end of the orange cable - I think you should wrap it in electrical tape and then seal it off with pastic bound by those oneway tighteners (whatever they're called). Since it is nearly buried, it could be grounding when it isn't supposed to...
