Comcast Digital Voice

we only have cable internet and sunrocket voip. it's $74 per month for us.

I have a HD TV coming very soon so I will be getting HD cable.

If you take $74 + $70 for comcast cable + $13 HBO + $9 starz + $9 cinemax, it will be more expensive.

This is why I want to know how Digital voice is.

It works fine, but when you lose your cable service you lose everything...

That's true.

What is the voice quality like? Are there delays? If I am on a VPN and talking on the phone at the same time - how is the bandwidth shared?

HD cable is $70 alone?

sunrocket is about $17/month btw.

voice quality is about the same. so far i haven't experienced any major bad voice quality. you can set QOS (quality of service) on your router and have VOIP take priority.

Voice quality is identical to POTS, I can't tell the difference.

As far as bandwidth I was told that there is extra bandwidth allocated to the line. I can't really test this as I have some speed issues with them anyways (varies a lot, did this before we added the phone service). I didn't have a baseline to compare it too, so I can't verify this. I don't notice a speed difference when I'm on the phone.

I'm fed up with SunRocket and am looking to switch to Comcast Digital Voice or good old AT&T POTS.

Anyone with the Comcast Digital Voice...how much extra are the fees on top of the $39.99/mo? I already have Comcast Basic Cable and HSI.

I've learned with SunRocket and Vonage, you get what you pay for.

when you use your internet connection you'll lose your VoIP access anyways so that argument is moot:laugh:

Got Optimum Voice here and I like it. Unlimited minutes, all those features, etc. $34.95 a month. Add to that $60 for Cable Modem then some Directv on top of that 😛
