For you guys with comcast digital boxes... can I take my digital cable box to my office and connect it to a comcast line there and get my channels? in other words, is what i pay for attached to the box I use or the line itself?

I know that I can take my comcast high speed modem to the office and it works there, so I'm just wondering how the cable boxes work.

Thanks

Normally I would say no, but the fact that you use your cable modem at works is odd to me. We have to register your mac address in our system for it to work. Did you go through the setup process again the first time you used it at work?

nope.. just plugged it in and it worked .. I mean i do pay for the cable modem at my home... so the MAC should be registerd no? or do you mean it has to be registered at each individual node?

That is strange. Is your work set up for Comcast?

Then it's not going to work. If your office has internet only then there is a filter physically attached to the tap outside.

As long as it's in the same town with the same cable provider you can move the box anywhere and it'll work. Your channels aren't tied to your location. They are tied to the box.

Call 1-800-COMCAST and ask about having an authorized Comcast technician set up basic cable service for you ;-)
