Comcast Digital Cable

So I had Comcast basic service + internet. Then I noticed at my parents house they had gotten an offer for Digital Cable + HBO for $10/month for 12 months.

Thought it was a good deal, so I went to the local payment center place and picked up the digital cable box. Got home and hooked it all up.

Seemed like all the channels (the lower local channels(2-10), the middle "standard" (~22-99) channels, the digital channels (100+)) were working except the HBO ones, so I called up to make sure they had applied the HBO package.

The CSR says it's on there and says they'll send a signal to the box and within seconds the HBO is working.

I play around with OnDemand and that seems good, so I decided to watch Dirty Jobs on Discovery channel and it says I'm not authorized 🙁.

Make some calls to the CSR, did the waiting, then my 3rd CSR finally tells me I don't get standard channels!

Odd that I was getting them before, but without the HBO channels... Anyhow, HBO doesn't seem to have that much to offer, so if I were to call and "switch off" the HBO, would maybe the standard channels come back? I would much rather watch Dirty Jobs and Myth Busters than the Twister movie....

Probably not since I'm supposedly not suppose to be getting the standard channels and the CSR said I would actually need to have a tech come out and hook it up from outside (yet they were showing prior to the HBO signal being sent..., less than an hour prior to talking to that particular CSR).

try hooking up your TV with out the box.

Yes, this works for me and I have the same problem. Just haven't called up Comcast cause I don't feel like dealing with that crap for a while. I get my HD channels through the box, and switch to my tv's tuner for standard channels.

Give it a day to correct itself. I've had issues with Time Warner's digital service when I receive a new box. Sometimes I'll get free premium channels for a day or two but standard channels will be missing. Everything syncs back up after about two days.

Contrary to popular belief, Comcast isn't trying to screw people over. If there is an issue with something, please call in to let the CAE know so they can get the issue corrected. I know you called in a few times before, but sometimes it takes that to get a problem resolved.
