Comcast Digital Cable + TiVO?

fs5

I have a TiVO series 1 box. Will it work with the comcast digital cable box?

I know comcast offers DVR, but I really want to keep using my TiVO Box.

WTH do you need a serial port for? Do you mean feeding it the program guide from the box and having it change channels? Well, then no. Integrated is definitely the way to go for these units.

It's digital cable. That means I need a digital cable box to 'tune' into each channel. Since TiVO can't 'receive' these channels, it will have to tell the cable box to change the to the proper channel.

Comcast does not make integrated units at this time.

It's crap shoot if you will get a DCT2000 that allows serial control, you might want to count on using the IR blasters.

IR blasters sound messy (and not reliable =/). Any experience with the comcast DVR? I used one for a brief moment at my friends house. Wasn't as good as TiVO's interface.

I switched to DirecTIVO because comcasts prices were $20 more for fewer channels and I'm a TIVO addict. I have DSL so I don't get hit with a $15 a month internet penalty. Not to mention the DCT-2000 is slow and horrible and I've heard similar things about their DVR. Supposidly Tivo is coming to comcast boxes but who knows when that will be.

IR blasters are not the prettest thing, but its reliable.
