I was wondering if anyone has seen their internet performance improve since Comcast instituted the 250 Gb. monthly limit?

With new 50 Mbs Xfinity service it has been super awesome! I don't think you can find a better internet service for the money. It's just The Best.

I save a plenty, with Xfinity!

actually, it has declined. while my torrents are choked to >10kbps, i'm also seeing intermittent difficulty playing any streaming video (youtube has been problematic for comcast for years). i'm not seeing lost packets, so i have to blame the sandvine network management.

Your torrents are more than likely downloading slowly cause Comcast KNOWS you are torrenting and they are throttling your internet speed.

As far as Youtube goes...it just sucks...I have Charter Cable here in Atlanta and Youtube is 99% of the time slow as hell for me too...just overloaded servers I guess?

youtube has it's own internal problems, in addition to poor performance for comcast subs. also, youtube has no bearing on crappy performance with other streams.

I havent been doing much big downloading lately, so I can't really speak to that, but I know our service gets dropped probably at least once a day. Maybe more when I'm not even home. I have never been too pleased with Comcast in this region, though I've heard good things from other locales.

The reason I posted this is because I have actually seen my performance drop.

It's 250 GB, not 250 Gb.

For me the speed was always way ABOVE the advertised speeds before the cap, and it stayed the same after they started the cap.

Same here. I don't torrent very much these days, but when I do, I regularly sustain 1MBps+ and with most swarms can stay around 2MBps (2MBps equaling 16Mbps, which is greater than my advertised speed).

In all honesty, it really has me spoiled when I use the internet at my parents or a friends place, since I'm used to everything downloading so fast. I get really frustrated having to wait more than a few seconds for something to download.

I guess I'm just lucky not to have had issues with Comcast.

As of right now, below average. But I hardly can tell because it is still more than enough.

Mine is the same as before. I still get over 12Mb, with 16Mb peaks. I regularly stream Netflix and have not seen any issues.

I should run a speed test when I get home, but when I dl stuff, I sometimes see 1MBps. :p

When you guys say you get over 12Mb, how are you guys seeing this? By using speed tests? Or?

Use a program like Bandwidth Monitor.
