Does anyone know the cause of the problem.

Both my parents and I use comcast and we are having issues with our service. Our digital boxes are "Pixelating" or as they call it "Digitizing" Blocks just pop up all over the screen and delays everthing (sound and video). It is getting annoying, hard to watch some channels.

My parents have had this issue for a while. They got them out there and they noticed low signal from the line at the street into their house. Fixed the line issue and it still didnt fix the problem.

I have just starting getting the issue at my place, but im 40 minutes away from my parents....seems odd.

I am starting to think that the boxes that they issue that are HD compatible need to be recalled.

My standard cable has been doing something like this.. Small off-colored blocks pop up and everything freezes for a few seconds.

No, it's line pixelization. Not enough signal for a proper digital picture.

Get your cable provider out there, and get them to do it RIGHT.

You can probably get a signal booster--about $20, if I remember correctly. I had one in my old apt and it made a HUGE difference.

Here's the problem - you're paying $100+ a month for really crappy service from Comcast. You should NOT have to purchase a signal booster out of pocket. I'd call Comcast and have them do it correctly.

Problem with signal boosters is that they also can add noise to the line. They're kind of a double-edged sword.

I have, however, used one of these with great success... but it was for a different problem and I don't know if it will do you any good.

Talking about it on an internet forum isn't going to fix the issue. You need to continue to call your provider about it, complaining about quality degredation. Call and just keep calling until it's fixed. That's the only way you're ever going to make any progress.

Ya I had to use one of the motorola units... cable TV worked fine... HDTV... Digital... but my internet would drop a ton, Comcast came out and said its a signal problem and there is nothing they could do since its wired in the apartment complex. They gave me the amp for free and it works fine now.

Same problem, but mine was apparently much worse. They re-ran the lines to my house and it fixed everything!

it's just like trying to hit "enhance" on a digital image on CSI. "Signal boosters" can't really do much for you if the signal is already crappy.

I join the concensus that you need to call comcast and raise hell.
