called for my parent's home. they were currently paying ~$90 per month for basic (non-digital) cable and high-speed internet.

i called them up and mentioned that they were thinking about switching services, they connected me to the customer dept. and they lowered their bill by $30 per month for the rest of the year

The sad thing is they're still probably making a ton off of your parents

who cares...isn't that what a company is supposed to be doing? making money?

I would much rather prefer to pay $60/mo than $90/mo

I think he expects cable to be free. He some how thinks he deserves it to be free because he works 40 hours a week. Just like what all the other callers complain and say.

i didn't call in threatening to cancel. i actually just asked if they had any promotions my parents could qualify for and mentioned that SBC dsl was $27 a month right now. the regular CSR connected me to the customer retention dept. and hooked me up :)

Be sure to mention you read a msg board where someone called in and threatened to cancel and that you'd like the same offer.

Ya, because everything should be free. Remind your employeer that next time he tries to give you a pay check.

No, I don't expect it to be free but they are a monopoly and jacking the prices way high.

You are like one out of 20 people that complain about this. Call in and say things like "I bet every call you get they complain about the price, right?"

Uh, nope, you are like one out of twenty people who call in and complain and say things like we're a monopoly etc.
