Comcast Conversation

I talked with these guys for at least an hour tonight. After the first guy did the internet chat equivalent of hanging up on me, the second guy I got was decent. Below are my three favorite parts of the conversation.

Travis > 80ms is not that out of place for an average connection.
Alex > 80ms will get you pwned in about 3 seconds

Travis > Its a possibility that more connections would be causing this. But the only way of truely determining this is a test when things are completely slow, like 150-200ms+
Alex > Well, I doubt it'll reach that point again tonight, I'm sure most of the n00bs are already tired out and F10ed

Alex > <-- that one's on me
Alex > Have a good night
Travis > Thanks.
Travis > You too.
(Note: In this one I actually wrote out : beer; but since this is FuseTalk it converts it. Just imagine if Comcast had smileys. :evil😉

So that's about it. I still have an issue with high ping during peak usage, but it was somewhat fun. The guy knew what he was doing and genuinely tried to help me. Even at the end he didn't give me the bot response they usually do.

Edit: Title changed to keep the true nerds out. 😛

Ahhh....I get it now. 😛

I had no clue what you meant by a "Comcast chat", lol

Yeah, Comcast support is very weak, and I got this guy who was really good, so I decided to have some fun and see if he was a nerd too, because a competent Comcast employee is an oxymoron.

Sounds like fun. 😛

*tosses a few 's in your direction*

You know Alex, they can't really do anything if your ping is under 200. The whole thing with cable internet is that you share the bandwidth in a given area. Hell my upload has never been what it should be, and my download is often 500k too slow, but you can't expect much. The good news is that even on a slow day, I'm faster than any DSL at the same price. Hell, I'm faster than DSL that is twice as expensive 😀

Yeah. I have a feeling they're being cheap and aren't buying new equipment, which is just flooding the network. I got upgraded to 6mb downstream and I don't know what upstream, but it's damn good to have. My torrents are going twice as fast now, even if the servers aren't pinging twice as well.

I've been having problems with Comcast + CS: S lately as well. Usually 20-25 minutes into a game my connection will die for 10 seconds and everyone on the screen will turn invisible and all I'll see are their guns. Very friggin' annoying.

I've never even heard of that problem. Are you sure it's comcast?
