Can anyone tell me how to get internet service through comcast for the lowest cost possible?

I could find Press Releases that comcast is offering new customers free basic cable for 12months with Economy Internet for $24.95.

BUT... I can't find any way to actually order the product online; or any specs for what "economy internet" is.

I'm moving at the end of the month into where comcast is the only provider.
I don't really need any other service... but I'm getting the feeling that you can't just buy one thing from comcast.

Does anyone here have Comcast's "Economy Internet" and can tell me what the up/down speeds are?

Probably isn't available online, you'd have to order over the phone. The rep will probably try to sell you on a higher priced service as well, but just be persistent if you want the economy package.

go into live chat. I know that certain cable companies *cough* have deals only available online. The live chat people have access to those plans.

The specs are 1Mbps/384Kbps according to a billing insert I have in front of me.

It's $24.95 w/cable and/or VOIP or $39.95 without. These are regular rates as far as I can tell. I see no promotions listed. That $24.95 does not include cable or VOIP, so be aware of what you'll be paying after any promotion expires.

I'm still miffed over my last comcast debacle.

A couple months ago, they were doing a radio promotion. I heard it a few times on a morning radio show that if I called in, I would get 6 months of the normal 12Mbps connection at $19 a month with free self install and equipment, but the price would go up to &50* afterward. It's $50 if you have another service or $62 if you don't. At first I went online but it only showed 3 months so I thought maybe I misheard. So I listened to the radio a bit more and they said to call in and the promotion would end in a few days.

So I called and the person on the line was SURE we have that. I'll sign you up. I went through the process no problem and made sure he repeated back to me over the phone what I was getting. He informed me that while I was self install they needed someone to still come out to my apartments to turn it on at the box but it wouldn't cost me anything. No problem and he told me that would happen the following week.

Following week comes, the cable man comes and turns everything on and brings my equipment. He hands it to me and says unless you want us to charge you for an install the rest is up to you. So I hook it up, and we go throug the registration process. All works. I sign his work order and he heads out.

First thing I do is run a speed test and I get 1Mbps down. WTF? I immediately call up Comcast and after much passing around, I am told I was signed up for the 1year economy service line. WTF?? that's NOT what I signed up for. I said, well the promotion I signed up for was this and I would like to have it changed back to what I wanted.

I was told since that promotion was over I couldn't do that, but I COULD do their always running 3 month version of that promotion. Screw that. I canceled the server and gave them good riddance. Comcast will NEVER get another cent from me.
