comcast cable modem...

If it were me (and soon will be) I would go ahead and look @ DOCSIS 3.0 Modems. Also, search on Comcast's website for their accepted modems. Don't want to buy one that wont work with them.

Yeah I have just been using reviews as a guideline to if it'll work with Comcast lol.

But yeah that's another thing I'm not sure of, is how long the 2.0 will be around for?

Call comcast and ask for a list of supported modems. There might be a list posted on their website, but make sure its a current list.

Docsis 2 is over 10 years old. If comcast in your area supports 3, then 2 should not even be an option.

I don't see the Motorola SB6120 on that list and it is an approved modem. The following list from Comcast may be more current: http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/F...-with-the-Comcast-High-Speed-Internet-service

Also for the OP considering renting at $7 per month vs buying, if you rent the modem Comcast will also include a wireless router on request. For me it is still a better deal to buy my own modem and router but it is something to consider.

I'm trying to sell my SB6120... Not compatible with my ISP. Would gladly sell to you so I don't have to deal with restocking fees!
