Just in time for the baseball playoffs they added TBS HD. Which was nice. Yet they also added CNN HD. wtf? Who would choose a news channel over any of dozens of other channels in HD?
In Nov. they are adding more including Universal HD. I am hoping they will show Battlestar Galactic-Razor. For those who have Universal HD, do they show the current BS shows when they are on? Or only repeats from previous years?

I went through 2 weeks of listings on my tivo on UHD, and there was no sign of BSG. Comcast is adding USA HD to the HD lineup at the end of this month as well.

UHD doesn't show Battlestar Gallactica. I just did a search for that title in the guide for DirecTV. No hits.

They did this summer. I still have the 3 hour miniseries DVR'd.

It was nice of them to add TBS HD for the playoffs. I was pretty freaking pissed that they were going to be on TBS but no HD.

I have had Universal HD for a while now though.

I saw it this summer. I think that was all they showed/plan on showing for BSG.

I've had Universal HD on Comcast forever. We did just get TBS HD, but it's worthless.

TBS HD tells me I have to call up and pay for it. Is that a mistake? I get TNT HD and all the other channels around it (I know, not a scientific basis or anything).

LOL they make you pay extra for TBS HD? I don't understand why the HDTV revolution hasn't been accompanied by a revolution in HD content. Almost everything is still SD

A vast majority of people still don't have an HDTV. Most people just don't care as much as we do.

Well, they don't MAKE me. I don't/won't pay extra for that channel, for that matter, the HD counterpart of any SD channel I already pay for. I'd sooner do without.

I don't see how cable is going to compete with Direct TV and Dish Network- you can only have room for a certain number of HD channels on a coax cable.

Hmmm, how does the signal get from the dish to the STB again? Hmmmmmm ;)

I always thought a coax cable has higher bandwidth than a sat signal. On the other hand, you could always put more dishes on your house as the sat companies put more birds in the air.

My local Time Warner quietly added TBSHD earlier last week as well. Over the past year with TW, we've went from 1 local HD and around 5 national HD channels to 2 local HD and around 9-10 national HD channels. It suddenly doesn't even compare to the new HD stations that went live on DirecTV, though. If the HD package from DirecTV doesn't suffer from their typical "HD-lite" down-rezzing, then I be very tempted to switch over.

I did too. BSG in HD looks pretty fracking good. I think I'll be buying season 1 on HD DVD.

They'd have room for a ton of new HD channels if they'd just axe the analog signal. I don't see why they can't do this now and just make everyone get a box. Sure people would be pissed off, but they could go to directtv... and still have to use a box. :p

Can you get anything through a QAM tuner other than the local channels? Boo to Comcast for charging so much for fvcking HD channels when I already have the analog version. Getting HD for FREE when we already have the SD version should be a RIGHT.

LOL!

Cable has a lot more capacity than satellite.

Also, close to half of all households have at least one HDTV. The revolution has already started and the year is almost 2008.

The FCC has ruled that they're not allowed to axe the analog signal until 2012.

I don't get CNN HD, USA HD ..etc.. on Cablevision but they added other "Voom HD" network channels a couple of months ago like Kung Fu HD and Monsters HD, which kicks all sorts of ass.

I do wish they had History Channel HD though.
