Sparkle's SXS4501024D5SNM (GTS 450) video card is on sale at TigerDirect for $120 - $50 rebate = $70. $5.87 postage to the Northeastern US.

The GTS 450 was introduced to compete with the Radeon HD 5770, and I'm not sure how compelling it is round that price, but at $76, this seems a very good buy.

Of course, that's presuming the rather hefty rebate comes through. I've never bought a video card or claimed a rebate from Sparkle before, mmm. I think of them as a cheap but decent PSU brand.

This is not the same Sparkle as the reputable PSU brand (Spark Power Inc. / FSP).

Mmm, that's unfortunate.

I did peruse the current Sparkle cards on Newegg, and only two of them (cheap GeForce GT 220 and 8400 GS) rated less than 4 eggs. However, the sample size is limited since very few Sparkle cards were rated by more than a handful of punters.

Sparkle seems to produce mostly midrange and budget cards. Only one card on Newegg offers a ($20) rebate.

This is a repost, and you have to purchase a PSU along with the card to get the rebate, so it isn't $76AR.

Don't feel bad; you're not the first person to fall for this.

So price wise, this is pretty competitive with the Radeon HD 5670, yet performance wise is better than the 5750. Sounds like a good deal, but I don't know who this Sparkle brand is, if they're not related to the PSU brand (whom was or is very good).

qliveur is right. The $50 rebate applies to the combo: 'Must purchase both items to qualify for this promotion. Both items must show on the same receipt.'

Ugh!
