Combo drive reads DVDs but not CDs

My laptops DVD/CD-RW combo reads dvds, but when i put in a CD, it says either that there is no cd in the drive, or that the cd has nothing on it (which i kno it does). how do i fix this? Its a lieton drive model LSC 24081

Its either a drive defect, cd problem, or driver problem. Get the latest drivers and report back.

Funny you should mention this. I bought a used IBM laptop DVD/CD-RW on E-bay and it experienced the exact same problem. I shipped it back. I then bought a new one and had no problems at all with it.

Most likely the drive is bad, but you can try putting in a CD drive cleaning disc with the brushes on the bottom.
