64GB Super Talent UltraDrive ME, uses an Indilinx controller making it a decent SSD.

Scroll down for the combo deal with the Core i5 750 retail box for $380

$20 off w/ code LIONSSD20, ends 12/13

Bing cashback is 5%

Free shipping

Ends up being around $340. Newegg has the CPU for $200, making the SSD around $140 or the CPU around $110 depending on how you do the math.

Alternately, combo it with a Seagate 1TB (if you dare) for around $240 after code/cashback.

I am wating for for the ssd to get reasonable at 128 gb. Is 64 big enough for an os...yes but barely. Does anyone use the ssd just for game installs or something? It is a tempting deal otherwise.

or a 32gb ultradrive me and 1tb wd for about $190 ab ac fs...

Not sure that $20 coupon code works since it was listed for just the 64GB drive, but if not then there's a 15% coupon code (max $15) good for anything in the store, exp. 12/14. Note that they don't allow multiple coupons per order. Even so, I would think the $130 Kingston/Intel at Newegg would be the better deal because it would be around the same price and have 8GB more.

I just checked my wife's computer with Vista Ultimate and a few apps installed and some misc data, and it was 29GB. 64GB is definately enough for that as long as you install games or larger apps to a different drive. Alternately, yes, you can install just your favorite game to the SSD. If you game a lot, then who cares whether Windows takes 15 seconds or 75 seconds to boot as long as your game levels load quicker every few minutes.

My Windows XP machine uses around 8GB.

Seriously? The email I got stated expiring 12/14. :(

Welcome to eWiz/Superbiiz. They expire their coupons early, especially if there is any kind of traffic being generated by the coupon (i.e. increased use). I've monitored them for a CPU deal for a month and it's pretty easy to observe.

It wasn't a great deal. i5-750 is $150 at Microcenter so it makes 64GB SSD around $190. I would consider Intel 80GB SSD at slightly higher price to be a better choice (admittedly availability and price seem to be random in the last 8 weeks) or OCZ Agility (Indilinx controller + Intel or Toshiba flash).

Also somehow both SuperTalent USB flash drives I have died in less than 2 years. It might be a freaky coincidence but I consider SuperTalent flash products suspect at his point. YMMV.

Well, not everyone lives near a Micro Center. The nearest one to me is in the Chicago area with 10%+ sales tax making it around $165, making this SSD around $175. Anyways, this deal will end up better for some than for others. For instance, those in CA will pay sales tax to SuperBiiz/eWiz, making it not as good of a deal.

translation from zap's politese into trollese: piss off you troll... the deal would be better if we could sell a couple pints of your blood to bring the price down, too...
