Combining CL2 and CL3 memory

I have 256mb CL3 in my computer right now. I am planning on buying a CL2 256mb stick to go with the CL3 stick I have. Will the new CL2 revert to CL3 mode if combined with a CL3 stick?

thanks

They both have to run at the same latency. So this means you can try to run them both at CAS2, or just run them at CAS3. The performance gains by CL2 are not all that significant anyway. Having an extra 256MB of ram far outweighs having just 256MB at CL2.

I heard that your pc will run at the slower Cas speed. That's why I'm upgrading all my RAM to Cas2 on a machine and then using the smaller stick of Cas3 for another computer.

But you might get lucky where your cas3 memory might be stable at cas2 in which case, you can run it at the faster setting.
