com1 and com2 problem in win2k

Alright win2k nerds! clean install of win2k but got the dreaded yellow ? icon in com1 and com2.
Everithing else is just fine.
Problem is that I got an external ISDN modem attached to the com1 port of the board and..of course..no way to poll the modem. Got a code 10 error(dont know what it means..).The drivers looks ok..generic microsoft drivers of the com1 port. Why the yellow question mark on com1 and com2??

By the way..I can boot with another HD where I have win98se..and everything is just fine..can connect to the internet using the isdn modem...no yellow icon in com1 & com2 .
asus p2bf 256sdram celeron 500 creative tnt2..etc
Any clues of a bad setting in Bios for win2k maybe..

thank you

Hmm... seems like the problem I had with my Asus P2L97 a whilw ago..
I couldn't find my com ports at all !

Look under /Computer Management/Device Manager/Computer - has win2K
setup your computer as ACPI compliant ? Try reinstalling Win2K as a
Standard PC - that did the trick for me !

Make sure that Plug and Play OS is set to 'YES' in the BIOS. That fixed it for me. I have a P3B-F. If that option doesn't exist, try upgrading your BIOS.
