COM Surrogate stopped working and was closed

Vista Business 64-bit.

This dialog box started appearing after some updates were installed. It appears after the computer sits idle. I uninstalled the updates and it went away for about a week, but it's back.

Google comes up with some hits that are fairly old, around 2007, 2008. I've looked through them, but haven't found "the one".

Anyone else experiencing this or have an answer or some clues?

My Vista 32bit business got that all the time. Since I switched to Windows 7, haven't had one. And this is with the exact same hardware.

What's confusing is that this system has existed with the same hardware and same Vista install for about 4 years. It just started happening. Everything I see on it references viewing video files or thumbnails. This box pops up when the system sits idle.

An update brought it on, I'm convinced of that. It sure seemed to be fixed by uninstalling those three I installed at the same time. But it's baaaaack.

Not happening on my wife's Vista system and not happening on my Windows7 laptop.
