hi, i am helping a friend (kinda like, "ya doc, i have this friend..."
but any way its a long dis thing. they have a gateway...?something oir another. they replaced the modem. it sounds like they did everything ok.
all the drivers etc.. removed the old one....
usually, i find that ppl dont have the enumorator and thats it. not the case here. when he goes to diagnostics/modem...more info, he gets an (now i no its better to have specfic info here, but, either something else has the com port hostage and won't give it up, or it cant find it.
someone else has told him he needs a new MB. i dont buy that.
how can i capture the port before P&P assigns it?
a better question is" what can i do to help my frienf fix this problem?
