Anyone a member of this? How legit is it?

"You get 4 DVDs for 49¢ each with FREE Shipping
As a Club member, all you need to do is buy 4 more movies in the next 2 years at regular Club prices (currently as low as $19.95 plus shipping and handling). You may cancel anytime thereafter.

ADVANCE BONUS OFFER!

Take a 5th movie now for $14.95 with FREE Shipping and you need only buy 3 more movies instead of 4 in the next 2 years. "

This doesn't seem like a bad offer, but I don't know how reliable this is. What do you guys think?

I got in on that deal. No hassles and I saved some $.

The only thing that sucked was having to remember to cancel director selections.

Legitimate? Yes.

A pain in the ass? Definitely.

You will get your DVD's for that price, but the ones you have to buy are spendy. Plus the automatic shipments are a major PITA, when I had it I'm pretty sure I received a couple shipments I refused.

One way or another automatic shipments SUCK.

Not a bad deal, but I got tired of the crap & cancelled both my DVD and CD memberships.

All you have to do is email and ask them not to send you the Director's Selection each month. No more hassle or automatic selections. Check over at the dvdtalk forum for a whole guide on how to get your moneys worth out of this deal. Guys over there have done it tons of times with no problem.

You have to buy 4 DVDs (within 2 yrs) then you can cancel your membership.

About director's selection, you can cancel it very easy by going to columbiahouse.com and log on (you need to create your username and pwd), then click on Director's Selection and "No, I don't want it". That's it, but you have to remember doing it every month. It's kinda pain in the butt, but they offer many good deals.

If they've already shipped the Director's Selection DVD, you can still cancel it by filling the online form to get the return material label, or just simply mark "Refused to Receive" on the package and mail it back.

I cancelled my membership about a year ago. I still get mailings and phone calls. Each time they call they offer a sweeter deal then before. ;)

Or you can do what I said a few posts up and just email customer service and ask them not to send you a director's selection anymore. Then you never have to worry about responding again.
