I'm sure like most things in the industry it's contract made by some other company that makes another bike.

Having said that, like most bike shops, they'll tell you...it's not necessarily what brand it is, but it's who put it together that counts. For example, half the bikes at walmart are decent... or would be if they were actually assembled corrrectly, especially the spokes on the wheels, they aren't properly adjusted, hence they spin off alignment and will rub against the brakes(which are also not put on properly), and will hence sqeak.

I'd buy this bike if I didn't already have one, but oh well. Though I do'nt have personal experience with this bike, I bet, if the proper mechanics were well tuned on it, it would certainly be a decent bike.

edit: Shimano derailers, FTW, good stuff.

Bottom line Shimano components: Shimano RD-TX50-L rear and TZ30 front derailleurs, and Sram TRX gear shifter, but you can choose frame size. Bikes are Chinese made for Columbia Sportswear (not Columbia bike company) by World Wide Cycle. WWC also distributes Iron Horse bikes.

This Mongoose, IMO, would be a better buy than the Columbia Trailhead Disc, slightly better Shimano components. Frame size is 19". Mongoose Sector DS Mountain Bike
