Columbia Coffee Crop losses

That will most likely have effects on the coffee commodities market as a whole as columbian is widely bought. Fortunately for people like me, my Indonesian local beans will not raise in price, but will still remain expensive 🙁

Oh No, rising coffee prices, another insult after injury as I have to tighten up my belt once more.

But wait, Its been years since I bought any coffee, so what me worry. As usual it will be the poor in Columbia dependent on coffee farming that will pay the misery price. The fat cats will simply raise prices. And forget to lower them, when a better climate returns.

Dont worry, all major brands including starbucks get the "house brands" from China!! although I am sure they will gouge the price anyways...

But, will it impact cocaine prices?

Good thing here on AT, we only brew civet coffee:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_Luwak
Kopi luwak (Malay pronunciation: [ˈkopi ˈlu.aʔ]), or civet coffee, is one of the world's most expensive and low-production varieties of coffee. It is made from the beans of coffee berries which have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) and other related civets, then passed through its digestive tract.[1] A civet eats the berries for their fleshy pulp. In its stomach, proteolytic enzymes seep into the beans, making shorter peptides and more free amino acids. Passing through a civet's intestines the beans are then defecated, keeping their shape.

Hey idiot, prices go up, coffee farmers make more. Columbia prices coffee on daily averages, subsidizes when prices are low, and taxes heavily when prices are high.

I know I know... math and facts are harrrddd!

Anyone here ever actually tried this dingle coffee from the Civet?

My last trip to Manila about 9 months ago there was a high end coffee shop in Makati that had some. Was pretty good actually. Its like Guinness stout...too expensive to drink all the time, and too filling to drink much of it. But very good.

Coffee is for losers. Real men drink tea. 😉

Only damned Tories would drink tea. We fought a war against tea, starting out with dumping it into the harbor. A few years later, the war (known then as the WOT or War On Tea) was won and the tea drinkers fled back across their ocean.

Now you would denigrate the memory of all those fine men who died freeing us from tea.

DANG YOU, DANG YOU TO HECK!!!!

That may overall be true, but you are seriously deluding yourself if you think that the increased prices are passed along to the growers as a 1:1 relationship, or anywhere close to it. Coffee is a globally traded commodity these days, and there are plenty of middlemen taking a cut.
