Just bought a Seadoo RXPX, picking it up on Saturday. I'm not a fan of the bright yellow trim.

I'd like whatever I do to be reversible, so vinyl or plasti dip are my options. I'd just be wrapping the front transparent screen, and the 4 yellow trim pieces.

Opinions on 3M 1080 Carbon vinyl?

Could also do matte white or silver.

Any better ideas?

I like it as-is. The yellow isn't overpowering and is a nice accent to the black.

I've not tried either product personally but have seen some great results with the dip. Not sure the vinyl would look as good if you just did those pieces.

Not too visible head on, iirc. Maybe if you had a bright helmet.

Helmet on a PWC? Outside of competition I've never seen that and its also noted in safety guide and regulations not to wear one.

Considering we're talking inland waters, a bright PFD is enough to satisfy me of visibility. If they cant see that, then less than a square foot of transparent yellow isn't going to help them.

I didn't order you to wear a helmet... 😀

And one of your choices of wrap was white...so that would have satisfied my visibility suggestion...

Black/yellow is the most contrasting color combination, even a little bit of yellow on your black SeaDoo will help visibility a lot.

Speaking as a boat driver it REALLY helps if you have at least some, if not a lot of, bright colors on your PWC. PWCs are a fraction of the size of boats, sit much lower in the water, and can be difficult to hear over the sound of my own engine. They also have a nasty habit of poking their nose in where it doesn't belong and getting too close to other craft (300ft spacing required, vs 150ft for anything else in NH). I am not saying that you do, just making a generalization of my last 12 or 13 years of boat driving experience.

If you don't like yellow, at least keep some bright/contrasting color. Carbon wrap would be an automatic loser IMO. Matte white would be pretty good. Bright orange or bright green would be preferable. A bright yellow (vs the greenish yellow on there) would be the best.

Follow up: Picked it up last weekend and went to work on it. Decided to remove a bunch of stickers (really, the engine components may be hot? glad I know now), decided to keep all of the yellow except for the front transparent yellow panel. Bought some 3M 1080 M21, matte silver, going to wrap the front panel and get registration letters cut in that material. If it looks terrible, will remove and run as yellow or without the panel all together.
